It’s normal to go through periods of time where you feel a bit “lost”, “uncertain”, “not yourself”.
This usually means you are going through a growth period. You are quite literally evolving. If things just don’t feel like they used to, it probably means you are outgrowing it. This is the time to go within, understand yourself a bit better. Reevaluate your desires, visions, what you want.
Life isn’t about getting to a final destination. Learn to find joy in the journey.
While it’s great to have goals & a vision for where you want to be in life, the real secret is in the journey of becoming. Believe it or not, if you don’t find joy here in the present, you are still going to feel the same even if you get “there”. There also is no “final destination” because we are always evolving. You are here in the present. Don’t forget to live.
Pay attention to how you are speaking to yourself. Your body is keeping score. Everything is getting stored in your subconscious & nervous system.
If you keep beating yourself up for everything, telling yourself how much of an idiot you are, complaining about literally everything, it’s no wonder you feel like crap all the time. If you think like crap, you are going to feel like crap. Start talking to yourself in a loving way & try not to complain about every dang thing. While you aren’t going to eliminate things from annoying & bothering you, you can choose to not perseverate on it & let it control you.
The only thing really standing in your way is you.
You can blame external factors all you want, but the only real thing standing in your way is you. You aren’t doing it on purpose. It’s all rooted in survival, meaning it’s unconscious & automatic. This is why learning & understanding how to work with your mind & body is so important. There are parts of you that are scared and don’t actually want you to do the things you say you want to do because there are risks. Be gentle with yourself, OK? Understand your subconscious reactions & learn how to get out of your own way.
There is no such thing as “failure”.
This is a hard concept to grasp as we grew up with the understanding that to “fail”=bad. You didn’t do it correctly. However, failure is a part of life. Sometimes things work out according to plan. Other times, you try, but it doesn’t work out as planned. It’s not a “failure”. It’s a redirection. No matter how hard, painful, uncomfortable it may be. It wasn’t meant to be. There’s something much better waiting for you. You had lessons to learn first. Take it with you as you move forward.

By the way, you’re allowed to change your mind.
Beliefs, desires, opinions. Even your career path. This is a natural and normal part of evolving. As you grow & evolve, so does your beliefs, opinions, even desires and what you want to do as a career. You’re allowed to change your mind about things. You’re allowed to pivot. Also know that changing your mind & pivoting doesn’t mean that you wasted time. You are always making decisions based on what you know at any given moment. It was not a waste. It was a part of your journey that lead you here.
Trying to force something to happen is the best way to block it from actually happening.
One of the most powerful laws of the universe is: Detachment. Putting this rigid hold & pressure on something working out exactly a certain way blocks it from working out how it’s supposed to. Sometimes what we think we want, isn’t actually what is actually meant for us. Sometimes things need to be rearranged in our external reality first.
Stay away from saying things like: “please, please, please, this HAS to work!!!”
There is no “life timeline”. You really don’t need to have certain things figured out by a certain age.
We are all on our own unique journey. Which means it’s going to look different amongst different people. Some people are going to have their careers, married, have kids by 27. Others are going to be in their 30s and 40s still trying to figure things out. That’s completely OK! These “life timelines” are literal made up things that don’t even matter because it’s going to look different for everyone.
If you find yourself feeling like you are “falling behind” and you are “running out of time”, I want you to take some deep breaths. Know that you are exactly where you need to be right now & you are going to be just fine. Get off social media. Stop comparing where others are where you feel like you are not.
Not everyone is meant to be in your life forever.
This one can really sting. Some people are brought into our lives forever. Some are brought into our lives for a season. But, everyone was brought into your life for a reason.
Not everyone is going to like you or agree with you. Make sure you aren’t one of those people.
As a people pleaser myself, I do have a hard time with this one. But, what we want to make sure we avoid is self-abandonment. Putting others feelings & desires above yours. Not taking action on things you want out of fear of what others will think/say. Doing everything to make sure you are likeable & not make anyone else uncomfortable. What do you want?
Life doesn’t give you battles that you cannot handle.
It doesn’t take away any hurt or difficulty, but you absolutely have what it takes to handle what has been put in your path. While you can handle it & get through it, you don’t have to go through it alone. Reach out for help if you need it.
Your life is your responsibility.
Not your parents, not your partner, not your friends, not your family, not anyone you might have hired for help. If you are unhappy with things, it’s your responsibility to take accountability & do something about it. No one else can do the work for you. Sure, you can lean on others for guidance & support, but it’s ultimately up to you to get up & do the work. Your life, your happiness, is your responsibility. This is great news! It means you are in control.
“Perfection” does not exist. But what you really want does.
It’s not going to be “perfect”. Not everything is going to go exactly to plan. You aren’t going to wake up feeling amazing every day. You aren’t always going to “handle” and say all the right things. But, whatever it is that you desire, it was put on your heart and your mind for a reason. It exists. There is no perfect moment. There is never going to be a perfect time where everything is perfectly figured out so you can take the action without running into any problems.
It is safe to let yourself play, not care so much, not micromanage everything, have fun & not take yourself so seriously all the time.
“Don’t get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.” – Dolly Parton
Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is rest.
Listen to your body. You are not a machine. You do not need to be doing something all the time to prove your worth & efficiency. You are human. You have limits. Forcing yourself to do something you do not have the energy or mental capacity for is only going to make things worse. Burn out, executive dysfunction, functional freeze, brain fog, extreme exhaustion, trouble concentration, lack of enjoyment/desire to do things- it’s all what can happen if you don’t give yourself proper time to rest & reset.

Start with one thing. You don’t need to have it all figured out.
It’s very common to want everything figured out before you start something. It’s how we are wired. We want to KNOW so we are prepared. However, you do not NEED to have it all figured out. Just 1 thing. That’s all you need. Start there and see where it takes you.
It either works out, or there’s something better.
“What if I try and it doesn’t work out?”
There are 2 ways it can go:
- It works out how you planned
- There’s something better out there for you
It can be really hard, frustrating, discouraging when something doesn’t work out how we wanted. A job opportunity fell through. A relationship didn’t work out. A business idea was a flop. You shoot your shot with your crush and got turned down. Sure, it sucks. It might even hurt like heck.
Just means there’s something so much better waiting for you to discover it.
You are going to be okay.
No matter what is going on, I promise that there is light at the end of the tunnel. This will pass, just as it always does.
There you go!! I hope you are here at the end and feel a little better about whatever is going on. I know I need these reminders. Sometimes I don’t WANT to hear them, but I NEED to hear them. Make sure you save this post so you can come back whenever you might need them!
