With everything going on in life, it can be difficult to find that “perfect” balance in life to make sure that everything gets done.

The honest truth is, we tend to put too much pressure on ourselves to balance everything and it only leads to feeling stressed & overwhelmed because it’s just not necessary.

However, I know that you really do have a lot going on and I want to make sure that you have the tools & resources to help you find that balance in life that you are looking for. I always say that we have this one life to live, so we have to make sure that we are getting the most out of it. It’s really not worth getting stressed about finding the balance and putting unnecessary pressure on ourselves to get everything perfectly balanced.

Step 1: Determining what to balance

GET RID OF THE PRESSURE TO DO EVERYTHING

When thinking of living a balanced lifestyle, it’s easy to get the idea that “balance” means you perfect the art of balancing every.single.little.thing. Let me let you in on a little secret- this only adds a lot of unnecessary pressure to think that you have to do allll of the things! I have come to realize & understand on a deep & really important level that you really don’t have to do it all!

When we try to balance everything, it can get overwhelming and frustrating because it’s just not realistic to balance every single little thing. That frustration can lead to giving up & picking up unhealthy habits.

Plus, there might be some things that you are trying to balance, but might not be as important to you as you thought. So, try your best to get rid of that mindset & putting the pressure on yourself to balance every little thing!

PINPOINT 3 THINGS THAT YOU WANT TO FOCUS ON

So, if you’re not trying to balance everything, then what are you trying to balance? I recommend picking 3 things that you want to focus on finding balance with at a time (i.e. job, being a mom, working out).

There are of course some non negotiable things to work around, like being a mom, work, etc.

But, it’s important to determine what it is that you really want to start working on and finding balance with. When you pinpoint just 3 things that you are going to focus on, it tends to take away the unnecessary added pressure to do all of the things, right?!

JOURNAL & WRITE OUT YOUR GOALS

If you are having trouble pinpointing what you are wanting to find balance with, JOURNAL! Journaling will help you get your thoughts out of your head & onto paper so you can see what it is that you really want to find balance in right now.

Believe it or not, you might actually find that you are trying too hard to fit certain things into your day right now that really don’t need your attention. It doesn’t mean that they AREN’T important, but just something that you don’t need to focus on finding balance with at the moment.

For example, you might find that trying to fit in hanging out with friends might not be a top priority right now. Even though it’s something that means a lot to you, you just need to focus primarily on some other things right now. Like I said, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t important, but it can be that it’s just adding unnecessary pressure.

So, take the time to journal about all the things that you are trying to balance & see what you come up with! Trust me, when you are able to pinpoint what it is that you truly want to find balance with, just those couple of things that really matter to you, it really takes the pressure away. When you take the pressure away, it makes it seem much more doable than trying to balance alllll of the things!

Step 2: Get organized

COME UP WITH A PLAN

The best thing you can do to make sure that you are sticking to your goals is to make sure that you are planning your time. Sit down every Sunday (or whatever day works best for you) to plan out your week, penciling in your non-negotiable tasks (work, areas around being a mom, etc) and working around those areas.

For example:

  • If you are wanting to get in workouts, plan out when you are available to get in your workouts throughout the week.
  • If you are wanting to eat healthier, plan out your meals and prep what you can over the weekend.
  • If you are wanting to spend more time with your friends, schedule in those times when you can ahead of time.

Taking the time to sit down and map out the things that you are wanting to balance & seeing where you can fit everything into your schedule is going to help so much!

Step 3: Start taking action!

GET STARTED ASAP!

Once you have your plan figured out, it’s so important to start taking action immediately! When you start telling yourself “oh, I’ll start next week, I’m too busy this week”, you’re going to be waiting forever!

The point of this is to make you feel like you have more balance & control in your life and you need to start implementing immediately! The main thing that holds people back from gaining control of their life is excuses. Don’t let that hold you back!

Remember, you are in control of your life. What you do is up to you, but it’s up to you to make sure that you are getting the most out of this life. Sometimes it takes some work & a lot of inner work, but it’s worth it- YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Take the recommendations in this post & I guarantee you will start seeing some improvements in your lifestyle! Not to mention your overall feeling of stress & overwhelm.
